Am I right in thinking that the 996 shares the same fluid for both the clutch and brakes, and that under a very spirited drive with lots of heavy braking the clutch can become heavier and gear changes can be a little stiff?

Doesn't anyone have a suggestion?

Can't see how the two would affect each other...even if they where connected...
The stiff gear changes is prob due to the gearbox oil getting thiner...

Thanks Chris,
They are connected, there's a bleed valve on the clutch and it's recommended when flushing the system to bleed the clutch as well.
I'm just wondering if when I upgrade the fluid it should improve matters.

Although fed from the same reservoir, I am not sure how they could directly affect one another.
Even if they could, just having hot fluid would not make the pedal heavier.
Boiling the fluid would give an airbubble, which would make the clutch pedal go light with reduced resistance over some (or all) of it's travel.
Normally the gearchanges are stiff when cold and get easier when warm, not the other way round. With my short shifter it is pretty stiff when cold.
On a standard C2 you can almost change gear with one finger. I cannot move my gearlever with one finger. You have to grab hold of it and push and pull with some force. Of course, when driving enthusiatically, I don't even notice it and it seems perfectly weighted, too much else to worry about.

Time to chop it in for that GT3 before you end up paying for that re-build ;)
Take care at Spa won't you :D

I had a Porsche race instructor tell me about the shared system but I'm just wondering on the symptoms when you have 'cooked' your fluid - I don't think I have but I wonder if the OPC drained the system properly 12k a go.
I have a SSK on mine, sometimes it's perfect other times it's notchy - is this related to my issue?

You sure you're not just getting tired, so that it feels heavier and stiffer after a while?
I can't think of a logical explanation.

You might have a point there Stuart, a little tendonitis in my left wrist caused me to take it easy last week :D
