Saw an plethora of new S class Mercs in Germany last week and thought they look very good on the road, but didn't get up close to form a proper impression.

Last night the local dealer had a reception to unveil the new car, and I have to say, sitting in one, they are fabulous. The bar has been significantly raised. The wannabe Audis, Lexus and BMWs have a lot of catching up to do. Note to Bangle. Look at the S, that is how to make a big boot lid that doen't look completely daft....

As with most things in the world, yin and yang is at play. The new Mercedes R class is foul! Clearly an American design from the good 'ol boys at Chrysler. What a horror.

I like these unveilings. The showroom full of luvvlies trying to ply you with champers whilst tottering round on 5 inch stilettos. Yum. :D

the R class is just septic! those americans have a lot to answer for!

im not sure about the new S, one of my neighbours got one and those arches are just a bit dodgy, nonetheless it will sell massively!

I saw a new shape white S500 on the M4 the other day, it looked the bollox in big rims.

I am loving white cars more and more these days :)

Saw them all in Geneva at the Motorshow.

New GL-Class (large off-roader) is even worse than the R-Class.

New S is the biz though, especially S65 AMG.

In the pictures, my eye is drawn to the wheel arches.
They look a but ford focus.
In real life, can you overlook them then?
You make it sound as if it looks better in the metal.
