View Full Version : Puke in my engine!!

I stuck a bit of oil in the C4S at the weekend, and came across what can only be described as puke in the oil feed pipe! (I seem to recall drinking loads of banana daquiri's then eating a kebab once, which resulted in a similar substance/texture when thrown back up!)

In summary, it looks like condensation build up, resulting in oil/water mix - and subsequent 'puke' residue build up :(

Anyway, spoke with OPC Silverstone this morning and they say its a common thing in 996's that are used on short journeys a lot.

They are going to check it over (ie the engine), but say all it needs is the oil feed pipes cleaning out once in a while.

Should I accept this explanation ? is it complete crap ?

Mosi, I would let Silverstone OPC do their thing mate........keep us all informed of what the outcome is.
I`m sure you will be OK.

Henry.

My thoughts too Henry,

As long as the car is in warranty, I couldnt give two hoots really - however, what if this is a problem that unfolds over a longer period of time, which then results in a major failure when out of warranty ?

(Suppose I just need to get the extended warranty anyway)

Am running it up to them tomorrow at some point :)

Extend the warranty.

Anyone that doesn't is mad in my opinion, after all for £860 per year, you only need a minor problem to occur to break even, let alone have a major engine / gearbox / electrics issue.

A minor problem can beomce a major expense if they have to take out the engine to get to it........

If you have water in your oil, then I guess the most likely cause is a blown head gasket. If you had to pay for that yourself I doubt you'd get much change out of £3k.

I think 'they all do that' is applicable.

Every 911 I've owned has had that gunge inside the oil feed neck and notwithstanding the fact mine's an old air-cooled clunker and yours is a spanking newbie wasser cooled job, I reckon it's a by-product of the dry sump system.

All that on one breath and probably a lot of cobblers! :o

Just got back from OPC Silverstone, car all checked out and sorted :)

Just some gunge residue from condensation build up over the winter when running the car on short journeys (my office is 1 mile from my house).

Nowt to worry about (apparently!)

And I managed to test drive a Cayenne S whilst I was there (as poss car for the missis) - bit disappointed with the amount of VAG bits on it to be honest....its like sitting in an Audi or VW :(

Mmmm - you need the turbo - that helps you forget about all the VAG parts...
