I have started looking for a GT3 Clubsport (LHD). Increasingly I am thinking that I should be better of with standard one and bucketseats (to which I add a rollover bar). There seem to be more cars at better prices. The only real difference is then the smaller flywheel standard in the Clubsport and that the seats are made of fabric. Am I missing anything else in my consideration? Is there any exclusivity value of owning a true Clubsport?

What are peoples thoughts. I am sure there are enough who own either.

Many thx

Neither car has a lightweight flywheel. Only the RS got that. There really is bugger all in it. If you are going to track the car, you will need a cage, buckets, harnesses and an extiguisher. If the car already has a set up on it by Parr or JZ even better. If you are not tracking it, it really doesn't matter. I know of an immacculate met midnight blue car with fantastic spec and a completely known history if you are interested.

I'm assuming that it is a MK2 you are after. If it's a MK1 you MUST know the car's history. A GT3 engine is a hand built racing unit. The conn rod bolts alone are over a grand. If it lets go you are looking at a cool 40K to replace it. Don't cut corners on a GT3 or it may well bite you in the arse.

Correct. Just send you a PM. I am prepared to take my time and do the required diligence on the car.

Not quite true. On the Mk2 GT3 (as well as all 996 GT2s), you are correct both Comfort and Clubsport had dual-mass flywheels, with only the RS getting single-mass. However on the Mk1 GT3, the Clubsport did get the single-mass flywheel.

Yep you're right Guy. I thought that the thread was Mk2 specific. The Mk1 clubsport had many more differences over the MK1 comfort

Thanks guys. That was helpful as I had the difference from the MK1 in mind. Seems that might as well go for a comfort with bucket seats and roll-over bar instead of the CS.
